Clean Water for a Village

For generations, the families of Darkut village in upper Gilgit-Baltistan walked over two kilometres every day to collect water from a stream contaminated with livestock waste. Waterborne diseases were common, and children missed school due to illness.

In October 2024, AGHE Foundation completed a clean water pipeline project connecting a natural spring source to a central distribution point in the village. Today, 200 families — over 1,400 people — have access to safe, clean drinking water steps from their homes.

"My children used to fall sick every month," says Bibi Zainab, a mother of four. "Since the water came, alhamdulillah, they have not missed a single day of school."

The project was completed in partnership with community volunteers and funded entirely through donor Sadaqah. Every pipe, every fitting, every hour of labor was documented and verified.

This is what Amanah looks like in action.
