A Widow's New Beginning

Fatima became a widow at 32, left with three young children and no source of income in a remote village of Ghizer district. Without a husband and with no marketable skills, she feared she would have to send her children away to relatives.

AGHE Foundation's Women Livelihood Program reached Fatima in early 2024. She was enrolled in a three-month vocational stitching training and provided with a brand new sewing machine, a starter fabric kit, and business mentorship.

Within two months of completing her training, Fatima had her first paying customers — neighbours who had seen the quality of her work. By month four, she was earning enough to cover her household expenses and her children's school fees.

"This machine gave me my dignity back," Fatima says, her eyes steady and confident. "I do not need to ask anyone for anything anymore. I provide for my children myself."

Fatima's story is one of hundreds. AGHE Foundation has empowered over 1,200 women across GB through livelihood support, training, and dignity-first programming.
